Strength in Diversity: Market America Celebrates Juneteenth with the Boys & Girls Club

Last year, Market America Worldwide | SHOP.COM announced the company’s unwavering commitment to fight racism and inequality while promoting racial justice and equality. At that time, we proudly announced that June 19 — known as “Juneteenth” — became an official company holiday in the United States and Canada.  Juneteenth, also known as “Freedom Day,” “Jubilee Day” and “Cel-Liberation Day,” is an American holiday celebrated annually on June 19 in commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States.

This year, the Market America | SHOP.COM offices in the U.S. and Canada will be closed on Friday, June 18, to commemorate Juneteenth. At Market America Worldwide | SHOP.COM, we are proud to recognize and celebrate this monumental day as we continue to strive for peace, unity and love among all of us.  Please remember the depth of importance and relevance that Juneteenth embodies.

As part of the company’s commitment to honor Juneteenth this year, we partnered with The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs of Greensboro to help inform, educate and provide an open dialogue about Juneteenth with kids from ages 6 to 11.  Market America’s Chief Technology Officer, Gene Wallace, and Brandi Foster, the company’s Global Director of UnFranchise Services, both shared what Juneteenth is all about, what Juneteenth means to each of them and what both executives hope they can think about and do with their family and friends this year to celebrate and appreciate the significance of this important holiday.

As part of our ongoing commitment to give back to the community throughout each year, Gene also delivered hundreds of SHOP.COM goody bags filled with exclusive Market America products that were specifically requested by all of The Boys & Girls Club members:

In addition, the company created “What is Juneteenth?,” a video about Juneteenth that features several of the company’s leaders and executives discussing the importance of Juneteenth to them and how each of us can take part in honoring this important holiday annually and throughout the year.

We will continue to seek out ways to be part of the progress — as a company and as a community.  You have our commitment that acts of racism, hate speech and discrimination of any kind are not tolerated at our company and are strict violations of our company policy.  We are extremely proud and respectful of the diverse family that we have at Market America Worldwide | SHOP.COM!

With the upmost love and respect for all.
