This past weekend we held a very special baby shower for Amber and Duane’s baby Ayden at Case De Suenos in Miami. We celebrated with our closest family and friends – and had a great time in this carnival atmosphere. It was like a magical circus with tiger cubs and monkey, performers and acrobats!

My heart goes out to everyone affected by the massive tornado that ripped through an Oklahoma City suburb yesterday, leaving a path of utter destruction for miles. The tornado severely damaged a hospital and two schools, and destroyed hundreds of homes with winds raging over 200 MPH. While the property damage was astounding, it is the loss of life that makes this event such a tragedy.

The world has been following the Jodi Arias trial with much anticipation, and today we will learn her fate. Today the jury will decide to give Jodi life in prison, or the death penalty, after she was found guilty of the brutal murder of her boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

I am so proud of Amber and Duane for winning the inaugural Cliff Floyd Foundation Celebrity Bowling Tournament! Market America helped sponsor this great cause which helps young people achieve their dreams on and off the field, so it was only fitting that Amber and Duane would make their presence felt by winning the tournament! The dynamic duo came in first place out of a field of 80 competitors, but in the end everyone wins when they help contribute to incredible causes that invest in our youth.

Loren and I were recently honored by one of Miami’s top publications, Haute Living, for being part of the Haute 100 – a list of Miami’s most influential philanthropists, entrepreneurs, athletes, artists, and entertainers. Being named along the likes of some of the most influential people in Miami is such an honor for Loren and me, but we wouldn’t be on this list without the amazing people power behind Market America and SHOP.COM.

I recently came across this interesting article from The Atlantic, which highlights a growing issue in the job market – long term unemployment. It seems that the longer you remain unemployed in this economy, the less chance you have of landing a job. Unemployment can be a vicious cycle, as millions of Americans are currently trapped in the long-term unemployment rut.
